Therapeutic indications

Fluconazole is used with other medicines to treat the infection caused by candidiasis (oral thrush). Foscarnet (Nolvadex) is used to control recurrent candidiasis (also known as recurrent liver disease) when certain other antibiotics fail. Candidalis is also prescribed to treat an allergic reaction and your pharmacist is told to advise you to avoid foods high in sugar and therefore caffeinated beverages (especially caffein products).

Dosage and direction

Fluconazole is 1 capsule or 2 tablets (worth 12 capsules) once daily for 7 days (to treat thrush). The tablets will then be taken on an empty stomach (approximately 1-2 hours before food). Your doctor may adjust the dosage if you develop any skin rash, itching or hives, itching due to pain in your face or neck or other signs of skin getting red even at the time of taking the tablets. Fluconazole is not recommended for use in children under the age of 18 years (because the child has a high blood pressure).

If fluconazole is prescribed to you, your doctor will tell you to take this medicine with a large glass of water. To make the medicine easier to take, let one half of the glass of water do just the job right before taking the tablet. Do not drink more water than you are allowed. You may experience symptoms if you are being treated for a fever and you have a sore stomach.

If fluconazole is prescribed to you, your doctor will tell you to take this medicine with a very wide range of even high-potency tablets of this kind. Your doctor will also tell you to take this medicine with a very wide range of even low-potency tablets of this kind (found in nature in excess of what your doctor may charge a fee for). To make the medicine easier to take, let one tablet of a low-dose fluconazole (found in 50 mg or 100 mg doses) 500 mg or 500 mg twice a day (½ tablet twice a day) for 7 days (to treat thrush).
